Who can create an idea?
To create an idea for a Policy Kitchen challenge, you need to have a user account on Policy Kitchen. Click sign up on the menu.

How can I create an idea for a specific challenge on Policy Kitchen?
To create an idea in a specific challenge, navigate to the “Challenges” via the menu, and click on the challenge you'd like to participate in.

If the challenge you chose is in an active phase, you can click on the “Create idea” button. A new window will pop up called “add idea”. Add a title, a short summary, and a longer description to present your idea to the other participants of the challenge. Additionally, you can add a header image as well as attachments to let your idea stand out.

What should I write in the “summary”?
The idea summary is limited to 200 characters. Use this field to describe your idea in 1-2 sentences.

What should I write in the “description”?
In the description, you present your idea to the world. To structure your text, you can use these three guiding questions: What is the problem? What is your idea to solve this problem? Who should act?

Why should I add co-authors?
If your idea was a joint effort, you can add your teammates to let them edit the idea as well. Click on “Add another item” and add the name of your co-authors. Please note that the co-authors need to have a Policy Kitchen account as well.

What happens when I publish my idea?
After creating your idea, click “save” to publish it. You and your co-authors are visible in the idea and retain the ownership. You and your co-authors will be notified when other participants comment on your idea. Of course, you can always come back and edit the idea.

What can I do if I like another person’s idea?
If you are not the author of an idea, but you would like to engage, you have three options. First, you can comment to add your inputs or questions. Second, you can follow the idea to stay up to date on possible changes or new comments. Third, you can send a request to the authors to contribute to the idea as a new co-author.
