Switzerland currently recycles about 30% of it's electronic waste (smartphones, computers, etc.), and exports the remaining waste to countries such as Ghana. China is the worlds largest recycler of E-waste. At the beginning of 2018, China changed its recycling import policies and refused to accept paper and cardboard imports. It is predicted they will act similarly with E-waste. We propose that the Chinese and Swiss governments begin a joint collaboration to establish joint research, prototyping and formation of a structured E-waste recycling system.
