Treatment of migrants by the UK government has often resulted in human rights violations (within detention centres for example). To increase accountability we propose an independent watchdog

The migrant condition watchdog would be tasked with the quality assessment and control of detention centres to ensure humanitarian conditions. It would be independent from government and operate through surprise visits/checks as well as referrals and complaints from detainees.

The operationalisation of scrutiny could use health checks of and interviews with detainees, ensuring their access to legal support, channels of communication between NGOs and detainees [unsure of whether NGOs already have access to detention centres in UK?]
