With new regulation, where data is now free to be used for any scientific research but misuse is strongly punished, research in Alzheimer has made a break through! The impact of nutrition and behavior on brain function are now absolutely clear.

All personal health data available has been combined in one big international database and with the means of modern data mining, the impact of all behavioral aspects on the development of brain function during aging could be clarified.

Huge savings in healthcare are one of the achievements but of course the impact on personal quality of life is unmeasurable!

Despite the positive news about the break though in Alzheimer, there is now still some misuse of the data and due to the free usage, one could argue that this will dramatically increase. Unlike the expectation, that free use would lead to dramatic misuse of the data, first analysis of the current situation shows a different picture: because of the international prosecution and the rigorous punishment, commercial companies have no more incentive to use data unlawfully and therefore misuse seems to even have been reduced.

The huge breakthrough was finally happening as the general fear of loosing personal data was seen as less of a problem compared to all the benefits for mankind. Switzerland was playing a major role by spearheading this development with introducing the strong punishing rules as the first country in the world.
