We see a lack of knowledge and awareness towards AI in the public. Cantons could tackle this issue by specific campaigns. We propose an idea contest on a cantonal level to call for AI solutions.

There is the issue of a lack of knowledge and awareness towards AI in society in Switzerland.

This issue has to be tackled by public institutions as they have a bonus of being trusted in general. They have to conduct campaigns to inform the public as booths in cities, media, brochures and forums.

We propose an idea contest on a cantonal ir city level to call for ideas of public interest, initiated by CDOs of the cantons, if existing, in order to solve local problems (especially ones of public interest) with AI solutions. First, running governmental projects, which involve AI should be showcased, before the public, especially AI savvy individuals, is called for action to develop own ideas.

Created ideas then should be showcased in exhibitions on public places as frequently used area in the vicinity of train stations or squares in the inner city. Posters e.g. may provide relevant information on the projects. Additional information could be provided e.g. in the tourist information or municipal of the cities. The exhibition should be given enough time as e.g. 2 months minimum.

The final event comprises AI speakers, idea pitches and prizes for winners as well as the prospect of implementation.
