Several efforts to monitor the progress of AI have emerged throughout the last years. Some examples include:

Similarly there have been and there are several national efforts to monitor the impact of AI-led automation on the labor market, including in Switzerland, as well as efforts that look at algorithmic bias etc. As with ethical principles for AI, there is more added value in supporting something that aggregates these efforts rather than just another national monitoring body. Just yesterday France and Canada have plans to build up an equivalent to the IPCC (https://pm.gc.ca/eng/news/2018/12/06/mandate-international-panel-artificial-intelligence). Switzerland should support and join this effort.
