Artificial Intelligence represents the most promising social and economic opportunity for the Global South. At the same time, inequalities tend to rise if this new knowledge and power are concentrated in the hands of a few players. Governments could (and should) play a crucial role in balancing this new ecosystem while respecting fundamental rights.
Public data should respect open standards to allow communication with different databases. The multistakeholder community should be invited on a frequent basis to contribute to the analysis of the public datasets and standards on open forums. The federal government should release quarterly reports ranking national inequalities, indicators on access to public programs and services.
